They are seeking an Associate Geologist / Environmental Scientist to perform environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks, contributing to a cleaner planet. The role involves both field and office work, requiring travel to various sites across the region.
Responsibilities
- Perform various field and office tasks requiring the application of standard geological and environmental science principles and theories
- Conduct soil, surface water, groundwater, sediment, and other environmental sampling
- Soil classification and sampling during drilling, test pitting, and excavation activities
- Assist with supervision of drillers and other subcontractors
- Execute field projects with health and safety as the top priority
- Complete field documentation such as activity hazard analysis (AHA) forms, project field reports, field notes, sampling records, and chain-of-custody forms
- Assist in geologic and environmental analyses and interpretation, which may include hydrogeology and/or geochemistry
- Analyze and interpret environmental sample analysis results within the context of the geological setting
- Prepare figures of environmental data, potentiometric surface maps, geologic maps, and cross sections
- Develop materials and assist in completing reports on finished field work
- May provide technical guidance to lower-level geologists or environmental scientists
- Work with project managers, using interpersonal and organizational skills, to ensure projects are completed on time and budget
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Geology or related field and typically 0+ years of related work experience
- A familiarity with related environmental rules and regulations is preferred
- Ability to work in a hybrid work arrangement
- A valid driver's license, the ability and willingness to travel to and from field locations up to 70% of the time
- Should be able-bodied as the work requires some physical exertion such as extended periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; lifting; recurring bending or similar activities
- Work in adverse weather conditions (e.g., hot, cold, rain, snow)
- Demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication skills
- Maturity in interaction and ability to operate self-sufficiently in the field or as part of a team
