This role is responsible for migrating data from cloud-based and on‑premise platforms through enterprise ETL tooling into Salesforce. Key responsibilities include source‑to‑target mapping, ETL development using IBM DataStage, data cleansing and validation, mock migration execution, production cutover, and post‑load reconciliation.The Senior Data Engineer will collaborate with Salesforce administrators, solution architects, product owners, and subject matter experts to deliver repeatable, auditable, and automation‑ready data migration processes that meet enterprise data quality and governance standards.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop detailed source‑to‑target mapping specifications, including field‑level transformations, deduplication logic, and validation rules.Design, build, and configure ETL workflows using IBM DataStage, SQL, and Python to automate data extraction, transformation, and loading into Salesforce.Profile source data to identify data quality issues and implement cleansing, standardization, and enrichment routines.Execute mock migration runs, capture and analyze error logs, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement remediation actions.Perform final production data loads and coordinate verification activities with business stakeholders.Produce reconciliation reports validating data accuracy, completeness, and referential integrity following migrations.Author and maintain a comprehensive migration runbook covering workflows, schedules, controls, rollback procedures, and operational support.Implement quality checks, data lineage documentation, and audit artifacts aligned with governance and compliance requirements.Partner with Salesforce teams to ensure object relationships, load sequencing, and platform constraints are properly managed during migrations.Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by optimizing ETL performance and automating recurring validation and reconciliation tasks.Critical DeliverablesSource‑to‑target data mapping documentation with defined transformation rules.Configured ETL workflows and scripts supporting extraction, transformation, and loading.Validated data extraction files from source systems.Documented data cleansing, deduplication, and validation rules.Test migration results, including error logs and remediation documentation.Multiple mock data loads into the target Salesforce environment with verification.Final production data load with verification and business sign‑off.Post‑migration data quality and reconciliation reporting.Comprehensive migration runbook and supporting technical documentation.Required SkillsHands‑on experience developing ETL/ELT solutions using IBM DataStage.Strong SQL skills with experience tuning performance on large datasets.Proven ability to perform data mapping, cleansing, deduplication, and validation.Working knowledge of data governance, data quality controls, lineage, and compliance practices.Experience optimizing ETL jobs and troubleshooting complex data load issues.Nice to HaveKnowledge of Salesforce data models, including objects, relationships, metadata, and constraints.Experience with Salesforce Data Loader or comparable migration tools.Familiarity with Snowflake or other cloud data warehouses used for staging or landing zones.Exposure to CI/CD practices for scheduling and deploying ETL jobs and scripts.Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages for data manipulation and automation.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.7+ years of data engineering experience, including 3+ years building and supporting production ETL pipelines.Prior delivery of at least one enterprise CRM or Salesforce data migration strongly preferred.EEO Employer Apex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
