Key Responsibilities
- Instruct students on material needed to become proficient in the English Language, with a focus on preparing them for transitioning to GED instruction.
- Assess students' readiness to take the GED exam and provide targeted support to ensure their success.
- Create engaging lesson plans, modifying them as needed to meet the diverse needs of our students.
- Maintain accurate records, including grade books and attendance logs, using tools like Power School.
- Grade papers, perform administrative duties, and create projects that enhance lectures and promote student engagement.
- Stay up-to-date with current topics in adult education, integrating competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
- Utilize various curriculum resources, reflecting the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of our students.
- Develop incentives to keep participants engaged and motivated in class.
- Foster professional relationships with other agencies and programs, working collaboratively to ensure program initiatives are met.
- Establish clear objectives for all learning activities, preparing and distributing required reports, and observing and evaluating student performance.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A current Michigan teaching certificate with ESL endorsements preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with teaching staff and other stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate adult learners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience teaching ESL to adult learners.
- Experience with Power School or similar student information systems.
- Knowledge of adult education principles and practices.

Compensation and Benefits
