About the Role
As a Beacon Center Staff II, you will play a vital role in our multidisciplinary team, working closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to meet the physical and emotional needs of our students. Your expertise and experience will be invaluable in creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment that fosters social, emotional, and academic growth. You will be responsible for providing daily crisis intervention coverage, organizing preventative student activities, and documenting student behavior, among other key duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily crisis intervention coverage to ensure the safety and well-being of students
- Organize and facilitate preventative student activities to decrease crisis intervention and promote positive behaviors
- Document student behavior and alert administration per center policies to ensure timely and effective support
- Operate the crisis intervention room in the absence of Beacon Center Staff I, including weekly entry and maintenance of records
- Attend and participate in all program meetings to contribute to the development and implementation of student support plans
- Assist in training staff and attend CPI training provided by Beacon certified CPI instructors to enhance your skills and knowledge
- Confer with and utilize appropriate staff for ongoing training and consultation regarding all program components to ensure a collaborative and comprehensive approach
- Respond to all emergency calls throughout the building to assist or participate in CPI and/or seclusion room emergencies, providing critical support in high-pressure situations
- Complete required paperwork accurately and timely, including CPI documentation, to maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Implement trauma-informed/resiliency based strategies & interventions to promote student well-being and resilience
- Implement building wide PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) to foster a positive and supportive school culture
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Administrators and Executive Director of Special Education to support the overall mission and goals of the school district
Essential Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:
- Familiarity with evidence-based and best practices working with students with emotional impairments, including knowledge of trauma-informed care and positive behavioral interventions
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with students, staff, and families
- Patient, kind, and caring demeanor, with the ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations
- Excellent attendance and punctuality, with a strong commitment to reliability and dependability
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with a strong focus on collaboration and mutual support
Preferred Qualifications:
While not essential, the following preferred qualifications will be highly regarded:
- Experience working in a special education setting, with a strong understanding of the needs and challenges of students with emotional impairments
- Knowledge of CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training and certification, with the ability to apply this knowledge in practice
- Familiarity with PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) and trauma-informed care, with the ability to implement these approaches in a school setting
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
- Ability to maintain accurate and timely records, with a strong focus on attention to detail and compliance with regulatory requirements
