Job Description
I am seeking an experienced, book-level proofreader for the final pass on a completed nonfiction manuscript, Echoes of History: The Patterns We Refuse to See (approx. 110,000–120,000 words).
This manuscript has already undergone structural editing and professional formatting. I am looking for a meticulous final proofread prior to print and distribution.
The book blends historical analysis, civic commentary, and personal narrative. It requires precision, consistency, and sensitivity to tone.
Scope of Work
Grammar, punctuation, and typographical errors
Chicago Manual of Style consistency
Capitalization and mechanical consistency
Formatting consistency (dashes, quotation marks, spacing)
Light identification of unintended repetition
No developmental editing.
No voice or structural revisions.
Ideal Candidate
Proven experience proofreading book-length nonfiction
