Job Description: Financial Accountant (General Ledger & Compensation Focus) Location: Remote/India Department: Finance & Accounting Reports To: Accounting Manager Position Summary We are seeking a highly analytical and technical Financial Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the General Ledger through robust reconciliation processes and accurate month-end close execution. While this position oversees technical accounting for compensation and benefits, it is a broad-based role responsible for the reconciliation of various complex financial accounts and the maintenance of US GAAP compliance across the balance sheet. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of US GAAP, a passion for data integrity, and the ability to manage sophisticated financial reconciliations in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Month-End Close & General Ledger - Journal Entries: Prepare and record monthly journal entries for various functional areas, ensuring all transactions are supported by appropriate documentation. - Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Perform timely and accurate reconciliations for a broad range of balance sheet accounts. - Variance Analysis: Conduct monthly flux analysis of income statement and balance sheet accounts, providing meaningful commentary on budget-to-actual and period-over-period variances. - Process Automation: Continuously evaluate accounting workflows to identify opportunities for automation and efficiency within the close cycle. Compensation & Benefits Accounting - Accrual Management: Lead the technical accounting for global compensation, including the calculation and recording of month-end accruals for salaries, bonuses, commissions, and PTO. - Accounting Reconciliations: Perform comprehensive reconciliations between third-party payroll provider reports and the General Ledger to ensure accounting accuracy. Compliance & Audit - Audit Support: Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors, preparing workpapers and providing technical explanations for financial statement line items. - Internal Controls: Maintain and improve internal control procedures to ensure the safeguarding of assets and accuracy of financial reporting. - Special Projects: Assist with ad-hoc financial reporting, technical accounting research, and the implementation of new accounting standards as needed. Required Qualifications - Experience: Minimum of 4+ years of professional accounting experience, with a strong preference for candidates coming from a mid-to-large corporate environment or a "Big 4" / mid-tier public accounting firm. - Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required. CPA or progress toward CPA is highly preferred. - Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, with specific experience in accruals, compensation accounting, and general ledger maintenance. - Excel Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills are mandatory (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, and the ability to manage and audit complex workbooks). - Analytical Mindset: Demonstrated ability to reconcile disparate data sources and identify root causes of financial variances.
