Position Overview
As our Senior Insurance Licensing Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the licensing department, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of all licensing applications and renewals. You'll lead a team of licensing managers, provide training and development opportunities, and serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and internal stakeholders. Your expertise will inform strategic decision-making, and your leadership skills will drive business growth and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee Licensing Department Operations: Manage the day-to-day operations of the licensing department, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of all licensing applications and renewals.
- Develop and Implement Policies: Monitor and recommend policies and procedures for insurance licensing in coordination with the licensing team and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Maintain Licensing Knowledge: Stay up-to-date on state and federal licensing requirements for all lines of authority offered by the company.
- Lead and Mentor Team: Lead and mentor a team of licensing managers, providing training and development opportunities to ensure their success.
- Analyze Licensing Data: Analyze licensing data and identify trends to inform strategic decision-making.
- Build Relationships: Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including sales, compliance, and legal teams.
- Identify and Mitigate Risks: Proactively identify and address potential licensing issues, developing mitigation strategies.
- Stay Current with Regulations: Stay abreast of changes in licensing laws and regulations and communicate updates to the team.
- Audits and Reporting: Conduct regular audits and prepare reports and presentations on licensing activity and compliance status for executive leaders.
- Culture and Professionalism: Support a culture of professionalism, integrity, and respect for team members, agents, adjusters, and internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in insurance, business, or a related field.
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in insurance licensing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- SILA-A Designation: SILA-A designation required or will complete the necessary course work within 6 months of hire.
- Proven Track Record: Proven track record of success in managing and motivating teams and directing culture.
- Licensing Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of state and federal insurance licensing requirements.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Background Checks: Must pass mandatory background checks, which may include pre-screenings, illegal drug tests, and credit checks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree: Advanced degree in insurance, business, or a related field.
- Industry Certifications: Additional industry certifications, such as CPCU or ARM.
- Experience with Licensing Software: Experience with licensing software and systems.
