Job Summary
The Sr Business Solutions Architect for Automation & AI is responsible for designing and validating enterprise-scale automation and AI solutions across Planet business systems and ICE Mortgage Technology products. This role goes beyond conceptual architecture—requiring active involvement in engineering prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and reference implementations to ensure designs are practical, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.
This role shapes solution strategy, creates decision frameworks, and partners with domain-specific business subject matter experts to socialize designs and gain alignment before transitioning to delivery teams. Success demands innovation, influence, and adaptability—anticipating technology evolution, driving modernization initiatives, and designing reusable patterns for data products, business analytics, business workflow automation and AI applications. This position requires a strong understanding of solution development principles to ensure security, compliance, and automation are integrated into every design decision. Continuous learning and collaboration across business and technical architecture communities are essential to success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Establish reusable, scalable, cost-effective patterns that leverage automation opportunities. Translate business outcomes into designs that meet performance, resiliency, security, and cost objectives. Develop project proposals and decision architecture review documents with clear options, trade-offs, and recommendations for executive decision-making. Design solution architectures for AI and automation applications leveraging modernized platforms.
- Hands-On Engineering & Validation: Build proofs-of-concept (POCs) and reference implementations to de-risk designs and validate feasibility. Validate implemented solutions against approved designs, identify drift, and drive corrective actions. Ensure designs remain practical and implementable throughout the development lifecycle.
- Collaboration & Influence: Partner with business subject matter experts and other Solution Architects to socialize designs and ensure alignment with standards and roadmaps. Communicate complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences; influence adoption of best practices and reusable patterns. Provide architectural guidance to engineering leads and delivery teams during implementation, ensuring scope, timeline, and quality remain aligned with the design.
- Governance, Security & Access: Ensure solutions comply with data governance, privacy, and audit requirements. Support architecture reviews and control checkpoints. Integrate DevSecOps principles into solution designs to ensure security and compliance from inception.
- Innovation & Thought Leadership: Evaluate emerging technologies and the modern AI, automation, and data stack; lead experiments and convert proven approaches into platform enhancements. Advocate for modernization initiatives and influence platform/architecture roadmaps with data-driven insights.
- Supports implementation of DR/BCP strategies to align with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborates with InfoSec to operationalize secure configurations and identity governance, specifically to align with NIST, CIS, and industry related security and regulatory requirements.
