About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher (SPED) to fill a full-time, school-based position in Taos, NM. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of each student
- Provide high-quality instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism, emotional disabilities, and other special needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to education
- Assess student progress, identify areas of strength and weakness, and adjust instruction to meet the evolving needs of each student
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to ensure that students receive consistent support and guidance
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and to enhance your skills and knowledge
Essential Qualifications
- Graduate from a teaching program with a specialization in special education
- Current license as a Special Education Teacher in New Mexico
- Previous experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with special needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
