Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced medical transcriptionist to join our team as an independent contractor. As a transcriptionist with IMT, you will be responsible for transcribing complex IME dictations and medical records, utilizing your knowledge of medical terminology, grammar, punctuation, and formatting skills. Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe complex IME dictations and medical records with high accuracy and attention to detail
- Utilize Microsoft Word to create and edit documents, including template setup and specific formatting operations
- Conduct research to ensure accuracy and completeness of transcribed documents
- Meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work products in a timely manner
- Communicate effectively with our team and clients to ensure seamless workflow and exceptional customer service
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines when handling sensitive medical information
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following essential qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in medical transcription, preferably with a focus on IMEs and record reviews
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Excellent grammar, punctuation, and proofreading skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, including advanced formatting features and template setup
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
- Strong research skills and attention to detail
- High-speed internet connection with a download speed of 50 Mbps or higher
- USB foot pedal and a program capable of playing DSS voice files (such as Express Scribe)
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the essential qualifications, the following preferred qualifications will make you a stronger candidate:
- Direct experience with IME transcription and record summaries
- Experience creating complicated tables and utilizing Word's higher-level formatting functions
- Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
- Certification as a medical transcriptionist (CMT) or registered medical transcriptionist (RMT)
- Previous experience working as an independent contractor or in a remote work environment
