Job Title: Materials Designer 3

Introduction
Join our dynamic team as a Materials Designer 3, where you will play a crucial role in the product design and development process. This on-site role at WHQ offers typical work hours with the flexibility of WFH Fridays. While some meetings may require in-person attendance on Fridays, this is infrequent. The position is initially a 5-month contract with the potential to transition into a full-time role for the right candidate.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite
• Deep knowledge of textiles, including wovens, leather, and knits
• Collaborative nature, with the ability to work cross-functionally with color and graphics teams, product designers, developers, and engineers
• 3-5 years of experience in a related field, with a preference for candidates with 5 years of experience
• Prior work experience at or in the client's industry is preferred
• Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2
• Experience with footwear design and knitwear knowledge
• Previous experience working with outdoor products/apparel.
• Experience building 3D samples and crafting mockup samples by hand, along with knowledge of form, color, materials, and human factors related to elevating the consumer experience.
• Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials, along with experience in technical material practices, including eco-friendly and weatherized sourcing and production processes, is highly desirable
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
• Collaborate with a team of approximately 10 members to develop innovative material designs
• Engage in cross-functional teamwork to solve material challenges.
• On a day to day basis you will be working hand in hand with a tight team ranging of different professionals (engineers, developers, researchers/innovators, scientists, marketing, testing, concept creators, costing, etc.) and collaborate within the design community (footwear/apparel designers, materials, color, graphics, computational, etc.).
• This role requires someone that has a highly collaborative approach, with excellent communication and visualization skills. The role reports directly to the Footwear Material Design manager.
• Participate in 1-2 rounds of interviews as part of the hiring process
